Care Guide
Make it last. Wear it well.
Denim is made to be durable, but with the right care, it only gets better with time. At Marel Co., we design each piece to live in your wardrobe for years—and how you care for it matters. Here’s how to keep your denim looking and feeling its best, while reducing your environmental impact.
1. Wash Less, Wear More
Denim doesn’t need frequent washing. Over-washing fades the color and weakens the fabric. Unless your jeans are visibly dirty or have an odor, skip the wash and air them out instead.
Tip: Spot clean small stains with mild soap and cold water.
2. Cold Wash Only
When it’s time to wash, turn your denim inside out and use cold water on a gentle cycle. This protects the fibers, preserves the color, and uses less energy.
Recommended: Use a natural or mild detergent—no bleach or harsh chemicals.
3. Skip the Dryer
Heat can shrink and damage denim. Air drying is your best bet. Lay your denim flat or hang it by the waistband to keep its shape.
Bonus: Sunlight helps kill bacteria—but avoid prolonged direct exposure to prevent fading.
4. Avoid Dry Cleaning
Most denim doesn’t need it. Dry cleaning often uses harmful chemicals that aren’t great for the fabric—or the planet.
5. Store Smart
Fold your jeans or hang them by the belt loops to prevent creasing. Avoid overcrowding to let your denim breathe.
