The Artificers is an art gallery in Fort Scott, Kansas dedicated to showcasing artists and craftsmen from all over - a space rooted in creativity, craftsmanship, and community. For our family, it holds even deeper meaning. The founders have shared a close family friendship for decades, making this collaboration meaningful on both a professional and personal level.

The idea began with an exciting question: what would happen if we combined Kate Freeman’s original acrylic artwork with existing Marel pieces? Rather than starting from scratch, we chose to redesign and reimagine. Blending Kate’s expressive paintings with Laney’s sewing and garment work.

Each piece began as a Marel staple and evolved into something entirely new. Acrylic canvases were cut, pleated, woven, layered, and stitched into denim, transforming fine art into wearable form. The result is a collection that blends fashion and textile art - expressive, intentional, and truly one of a kind.

The collaboration debuted at The Artificers’ Textile Art Show on February 6, 2026. The perfect setting for craftsmanship and creative storytelling.
